EqasOnline is the end-to-end platform for proficiency testing providers and the laboratories that take part. Plan rounds, ship samples, collect results online, score them with ISO 13528 robust statistics and release reports and certificates, all from one system.
Most EQA schemes still run on spreadsheets and email.
The science behind proficiency testing is rigorous. The operations around it usually are not, and that is where transcription errors, late reports and audit findings come from.
AreaTodayWith EqasOnline
Collecting results
TodayResults arrive as emails, scans and spreadsheets, and someone on your team re-types every one.
With EqasOnline: Labs enter results in their own portal or upload a spreadsheet, against your test's units and parameters, before a deadline you set. Implausible values are queried as they are entered.
Statistics
TodayAssigned values and scores live in a workbook that only one person fully understands.
With EqasOnline: One engine applies ISO 13528 methods the same way every round and shows its working: n, assigned value, robust SD and uncertainty.
Reports & certificates
TodayPer-lab reports and certificates are assembled by hand, so labs wait weeks to hear how they did.
With EqasOnline: Each lab's reports are generated from the evaluated round, and one click tells every participant they are ready.
Samples & logistics
TodayNobody can say which labs have their samples, or in what condition, without phoning around.
With EqasOnline: Dispatch details, tracking numbers and receipt confirmations sit in one view, and each lab records the condition its sample arrived in.
Follow-up
TodayQueries, complaints and appeals are scattered across inboxes, with no clean record for the assessor.
With EqasOnline: Complaints, appeals and corrective actions are recorded against the round, tracked to an outcome and kept for your next assessment.
Participant experience
TodayLabs get a PDF once a round, with no history and no view of how labs on the same method did.
With EqasOnline: Labs see their z-scores, peer groups and trends across rounds on their own dashboard.
How it works
One platform for the whole proficiency testing cycle.
Every step of a round happens in EqasOnline, so the data your statistics use is the data your labs entered, and every decision along the way is on record.
01
Design the scheme
Build quantitative, semi-quantitative or qualitative tests with your own analytes, units and parameters, such as instrument, method and reagent, plus plausibility ranges and quality specifications.
Labs register with your provider code and verify their email; you approve them and assign them to rounds. Each round gets its dates, samples and an announcement email.
Build any scheme from quantitative, semi-quantitative and qualitative tests. For specialist schemes that generic EQA software can't score, the scoring and reports are already built in.
Any test you can define
Numeric results are scored with ISO 13528 statistics, categorical results by consensus, and ordinal results such as dipstick grades by their deviation from the consensus.
Clinical biochemistry
Haematology
Immunoassays and proteins
Urinalysis (semi-quantitative)
Qualitative tests, such as serology
Your own analytes and units
Specialist scoring, built in
Each comes with its own result format, concordance scoring and report template.
HLA genotyping
Low and high resolution, allele concordance per locus
Crossmatch
CDC, flow cytometry and Luminex DSA crossmatch
HLA antibody testing
Luminex PRA screening and single antigen bead
Immunophenotyping
CD marker consensus and final-diagnosis concordance
Statistics
Statistics an assessor can follow.
Every assigned value, score and verdict is calculated on the server by one statistics engine that follows ISO 13528. Nothing is re-calculated by hand, and a detailed evaluation report shows every iteration of the calculation for your assessor.
Assigned value
Algorithm A robust consensus for 12 or more results, median and MADe for smaller groups, with its standard uncertainty checked against 0.3 σpt.
Scores
A z-score and z′-score for every result, plus % bias. Satisfactory at |z| ≤ 2, questionable up to 3, unsatisfactory at |z| ≥ 3.
Safeguards
No score from fewer than three results, and a stated reason whenever an analyte cannot be evaluated.
Peer groups
Results compared within method, instrument and reagent groups as well as across all participants.
Outliers
Grubbs' test flags outliers for review. The robust consensus already resists them, so nothing is removed silently.
Qualitative & specialist
Consensus scoring for qualitative and semi-quantitative results, and concordance for HLA typing, crossmatch and immunophenotyping.
Built for both sides of a proficiency testing scheme.
Providers run the scheme from the provider console. Participating laboratories work in their own portal. Both work from the same records, so nothing is ever copied from one system to another.
For PT & EQA providers
Launch schemes faster and run more of them with the same team.
For national and regional EQA programmes, specialist schemes, and organisations setting up a new one.
Configure quantitative, semi-quantitative and qualitative tests with your own analytes, units and parameters.
Let labs register with your provider code, approve them, and assign them to rounds on your calendar.
Check homogeneity and stability, then ship samples and see which labs have confirmed receipt.
Score results with ISO 13528 robust statistics and peer groups, in an analysis workspace with a release checklist.
Release reports with your logo, signatures and document control code, and tell every lab in one click.
Handle complaints, appeals and corrective actions, each tracked to an outcome.
EQA exists to catch analytical problems before they harm patients. The faster and cleaner the loop from sample to feedback, the better it does that job.
Feedback while it still matters
Reports are generated the moment you release a round's analysis, so a lab hears about a bias while there is still time to correct it, before it reaches more patient results.
No re-keying on your side
Results come straight from the lab that measured them and are checked for plausibility as they are entered. Your team never re-types a number, so none gets mistyped on the way into your statistics.
Statistics you can defend
Assigned values, scores and verdicts come from one ISO 13528 engine. The same inputs always give the same answer, and the detailed evaluation report shows how each one was reached.
More schemes, same team
Calendars, reminders, reports and certificates run on the platform, so your experts spend their time on scheme design and science instead of admin.
Assessments without the scramble
Homogeneity checks, results, statistics, reports, appeals and corrective actions live in one system, ready when your assessor asks for them.
Labs that come back
A clear portal, quick reports and a direct line for questions give participating labs a reason to stay with your scheme next cycle.
Standards & security
Built for accredited environments.
Proficiency testing feeds accreditation decisions, so the software behind it has to stand up to scrutiny. EqasOnline is designed around the standards your scheme and your labs are assessed against.
Accreditation is granted to a PT provider or laboratory by an accreditation body such as NABL. EqasOnline is the software you operate with; it does not grant accreditation, but it helps you meet the requirements and keep the evidence.
External quality assessment (EQA), also called proficiency testing (PT), sends the same samples to many laboratories, compares each lab's results with an assigned value and scores its performance. Regular participation is required for accreditation to ISO 15189, the standard NABL and other accreditation bodies use for medical laboratories.
Who is EqasOnline for?
Organisations that run EQA or proficiency testing schemes, from national programmes to specialist schemes, use the provider console to run their rounds. The laboratories taking part use the lab portal to submit results, follow their performance and download their reports.
Which disciplines can we run on EqasOnline?
Any scheme you can describe as quantitative, semi-quantitative or qualitative tests, such as clinical biochemistry, haematology or urinalysis. EqasOnline also has dedicated scoring and reports for transplant immunology (HLA typing, CDC and flow cytometry crossmatch, Luminex PRA, single antigen and DSA testing) and for immunophenotyping by flow cytometry.
Which statistical methods does EqasOnline use?
ISO 13528 methods. The assigned value is a robust consensus: Algorithm A for 12 or more results, median and MADe for smaller groups, reported with its standard uncertainty. Every result gets a z-score and a z′-score, rated satisfactory at |z| ≤ 2, questionable up to 3 and unsatisfactory at |z| ≥ 3, and no score is given when fewer than three labs report. Grubbs' test flags outliers for review.
Does EqasOnline replace ISO/IEC 17043 accreditation?
No. Accreditation is granted to a PT provider by an accreditation body after an assessment. EqasOnline is the software you run your scheme on: it is designed around ISO/IEC 17043 requirements and keeps the records an assessor asks to see, such as homogeneity checks, statistical evaluations, reports, appeals and corrective actions.
Can reports carry our own branding?
Yes. Your logo, address, signatures, seal, confidentiality text and document control code appear on your reports, with an optional watermark, and your logo appears in your labs' portal.
How does a laboratory join a scheme?
Your PT provider gives you an 8-character provider code. Enter it on the registration page, fill in your lab details and the tests you want to take part in, verify your email with a one-time code, and your provider approves the registration.
Can we see a scheme running before we commit?
Yes. Book a 30-minute demo and we will walk you through a complete round in both the provider console and the lab portal, from enrolment to reports.
